A new start .........
A new blog and a new direction in life !
Here's just a little explanation on why !
You may want to grab a brew or coffee and I've tried to keep it short (ish) and sweet .
The last couple of years have been challenging not only physically sometimes but emotionally and mentally. I've been feeling very unsettled in my life and having a constant nagging feeling that I needed to change up my life post Meningitis ( two & half years ago) . I think surviving a serious illness awakens something emotionally deep within you and you certainly look at life very differently. It has given me a very new perspective on life and a new purpose . I've dealt with the emotional ( and some very dark days !) and the physical side affects of Meningitis, but then I've needed to push through it all and get to a point where if felt I was some what back to my normal self . I think I finally reached that point a few months back !I have come out of the other side of this with a need for a life that has meaning and purpose. I want to make a difference and follow what makes me passionate in life .
So my chosen new direction is as an indie natural dyer using only natural, local, British, ethical and sustainable yarn. In my dyeing process I use only natural dyes in both plant form and extract form, as well as minerals and insect ( e.g Cochineal & Lac which are scale insects and have been traditionally used for hundreds of years). I want to strive to be an ethical producer and limit my impact on our Environment.
As a family we are striving to make lots of changes both ethically and environmentally and I feel this should also be reflected in my work life too ! I feel I have a social responsibility to my children, society, future generations and the planet to try make a difference through the decisions I make and the actions I take and to be less impactful on a very damaged Earth. This is my way, in my small quite insignificant life of feeling like I'm helping to improve our futures.
Being the change I want to see !
So here is a little peek into me starting my new creative journey , which I'm finding so very exciting and this change has awakened the part of my brain that deals with creative ideas and thoughts . Which had gone quite dormant and quiet and felt very empty after being ill .
But not anymore !
As well as learning to naturally dye yarn and play with colour , which for me has the same feeling as that of a child being let loose in a sweet shop . I've had the joy of designing and making my own labels and logo and I do love a good product label !!
This just makes me so happy .....
So I'm looking forward to seeing what the coming weeks months and years have to offer , I have a few creative plans forming for next year and lots of naked yarn waiting for me to adorn with colour as well as some scrummy yarn I'm itching to get on my needles and yes finished some much neglected U.F.Os .
I will be swinging by often as I can chat more in depth on here .

Thank you for popping by and I will see you again soon

I've been feeling much the same regarding the impact I have on the planet. I love the colours you achieve with natural dyes. Your yarn is beautiful. I've been feeling that I'd like to use only british wool and natural dyes in my weaving work, but that will have to wait until next year.
ReplyDeleteHooray! Welcome back to Blogland, we've missed you! :) xx
